Bringing It Back to Life

So I apologize to my family and friends that have always enjoyed following my blog with the photos that I take. I have not updated this thing in over 3 years. I have been going through a lot mentally, spiritually and emotionally and though I had taken photos, they stayed on the memory card inside my camera. I now have a new computer and Kris and a close friend, as well as Gram have all encouraged me to get back to it. I did take new photos of the kids last week and I am in love with them. I'm not sure how much of the many older photos I will post but I will post my favorites of the old ones (2020-2021). I will do the whole session I just did with the kids though. I am hoping to get back into the swing of it and take my camera with me more and more. Instead of letting it collect dust on my book shelf.

Also in doing all this I am hoping to get new photos to hang on my walls at home and to get photos to my friends and family of things they will love.

I have to remember that this hobby is something that I know brings me joy! I also know that seeing what I create brings joy to my friends and family. So have some patience and I will bring my joy back to y'all as well!

Love you all,

Kirsty

Two Little Girls...

So I know these two wonderful little girls. They have the greatest personalities and the greatest smiles and everyone who meets them just loves them. They love everyone especially their younger siblings. They have so much love in their little hearts. They get into great mischief together and fight the worst fights with each other, but you better not pick on either of them or you will pay as they always have each others back. They also protect their little brothers from bullies. They are the best of friends.

They are my beautiful daughter and niece: Taylor and Emma.

At This Moment...

So lately, I've been discouraged about my photography. I have had one paying customer and it's like pulling teeth to get friends to let you get photos done. Really the only ones willing are my kids and my niece and nephew. I am hoping when I move to Texas it will be better. Though these last few weeks have been hectic, these next few won't be any different really.

However I have been trying (really to no avail) to do photos here and there. I've either been to lazy, tired or the weather was bad!

I have spent time with family I hadn't seen in about 4 and 8 years. It was fun, though very long! I got a lot of clothes for Taylor and some for James from my sister, she is just awesome!

We went to the zoo and I saw my BFFs new daughter and nephew!

Miss Shannon above and Mr Myles below!

This last week I tried to help my in laws move out of their old place, but the kids were a nightmare, so Kris helped them out. They had one stressful week! This week and the next couple following I'm gonna attempt to not stress out about Christmas. I have all the stockings, plenty for my babies, decorations up and food planned. This weekend we have our church banquet. That should be good for some laughs. I will be bringing my camera for some special photos.
This month I am gonna attempt to take my camera out at least twice a week just to keep my head up and get some more lovable shots of my beautiful babies. I am gonna also try and get some new ideas for this blog. Kinda like maybe "fantasy friday" or "music monday" or I choose a day of the week to share my likes, thoughts and/or new finds.

Blogs...

I have two blogs this one obviously and my business one. I follow a bunch of them as well. Some (well most of them) are on the subject of photography. I get a lot of ideas for photos, help with business information, camera help, etc. I love to read these blogs and get insight into the world of others. I hope that others like reading mine as well.

Here some of the links to a few of my favorites:

Shannon Morse- Wedding/Portrait photographer

Kristen Booth- Wedding/Portrait/Storybook photographer

Rachel Brenke- Business Consultant/Portrait photographer

Lynsey Stone- Birth photographer

Play at Home Mom LLC- Blog with lots of ideas for having fun with your kids

Domestic Imperfection- DIY blog, with a lot of helpful hints/tips for around the home

These are just a few of the ones I love. I love to learn new things. With more and more blogs, you can find out just about anything nowadays. It's great!

Now a quick photo of my baby girl.

A Little Push...

I finally had my first paid photo session this past Friday. I guess my patience paid off :). I have decided since I was only getting inquiries from people/friends/family from out of state, I needed to be more proactive in my approach to getting "clientele" for my portfolio. So I went to Facebook and messaged a bunch of my friends and family in the area to see about sessions for them. I have gotten four people to contact me back. YAYAYA. I have a few set up already. Kris even got two for me from a friend he goes to school with. I'm excited. It felt really good to have that first paying job, it made it feel real. Kris said I was glowing afterwards. So now I am really working my butt to get everything going smoothly. I have all the paperwork I need, Kris is taking care of the invoice/tax/money portion, and I am working on all the software I need. All I needed really was a little push of myself and from Kris.

This is one of the "bridges" at the park where I live in Dixon.

Fireworks for Toddlers...

Who says it takes a large, extravagant display of fireworks to amuse toddlers. On July 2, we went to a friends house for a mini fireworks display. There were a bunch of toddlers there. A couple we comprehensive because they didn't know what to expect, but after they started they were super happy. They kept calling for more! The looks on their little faces were just priceless. There was such amazement in their eyes.

Here are a few photos:

Roger & Holly Franklin's Reception 5/20/2012

I had the wonderful priviledge to second shoot a wedding reception. A little practice for me. I was kinda nervous but it was great. Shannon (my friend and mentor) invited me to help her shoot it. Also it was number thirty-six on my 101.

 The toasts...

I absolutely love this next photo of Holly's sister. Pure love and emotion!

The only single guys were all kids under the age of 18. LOL

A photo of behind the camera. :) My friend and mentor, Shannon.
